The trail starts at Ponta Delgada, towards Pico do Carvão. This trail begins at the entrance to the Mata do Canário, and joins two sections of pre-existing trails and allows you to get to know the various lagoons and wetlands of the western part of the island of S. Miguel. In the first part of the footpath it is possible to find small vegetation, essentially grasses, and it is also possible to observe the Muro das Nove Janelas, an old aqueduct that transported water to Ponta Delgada. After an ascent through an area where the terrain is more irregular, it is possible to observe a large part of the western part of the island, as well as the collapse boiler of the Seven Cities. From this place, on days of very good weather, one can see a large part of São Miguel Island, as well as Lagoa das Éguas and Lagoa Rasa. On the way back to Ponta Delgada, you can stop at the Miradouro da Vista do Rei, where you will find a magnificent landscape, constituted by the Blue and Green Lagoon.

Along the way back there are green fields until the entrance of Ponta Delgada.
